First - the myth of the so expensive Orris from Toscane - 3 years to be prepared.
Second - the decline of orris "agriculture" in Italy.
Third - the orris trend with quite a number of new releases that are using the natural extract, from expensive Iris Silver Mist to affordable Iris Noir (Yves Rocher).
The question would be .... how could it be possible to have an entire orris trend with such a rare and expensive material, used in many classical perfumes (No19 Chanel extract)?
Of course, there are several orris synthetics ... but the answer is different.
Biolandes, a leader company in natural extraction, started to produce orris in France. It is cultivated in Landes area and they use a new patented method of bio extraction that takes not 3 years but .... less than a week (I'm not so sure about the days). And it started to be produced in a great amount.
But the biggest surprise came when I learned during a Biolandes presentation that the biggest demand for orris is not the perfume industry but the flavours. I sampled very good natural products and now, every time I see a new orris perfume on the market and the common press release speaking about the orris myth - it makes me smile.
